Evaluation Activity 5:How do you attract/address your audience?
My media production thriller opening "the watcher" attracts a similar audience to most thrillers, because it has some eerie, suspense building scenes such as the point of view shots from ‘the watcher’ who is following Tovia as she walks through the woods, but keeping his distance by tracing her steps amongst the bushes, which some of the younger audiences might find disturbing.
My production attracts audiences of the older teen/ early adult generation because of the mystery behind the story of the watcher, also the fact that the actors involved (louis pring & tovia balo) are a similar age to the audience being captured would find it easy to relate to the mixture of feelings that would be running through tovias head as she Is being franticly followed by a mysterious character through the woods,. characters such as, Naomi Watts in king kong would be feeling similar emotions of stress and exhaustion when she is running through the forest from 'king kong'.
for example in King Kong, Naomi fits the gender stereotype of a young female victim, because of the weakness and vulnerability she shows towards the 'king kong', similarly, Tovia (the teenage girl) is the danzel in distress which is common amongst thrillers because women can be seen as weaker and much more vulnerable than males.
The fact that the two people in the opening of our production are teenagers may cause the opening to be more attractive to a teenage audience because they will find it much easier to put themselves into a similar position and relate to the feelings of distraught and confusion that must be going through Tovia's head whilst being followed from a distance and being unable to escape the ongoing chase between 'the watcher' and her. Also the fact that Louis (the dead teenage boy) is wearing a hoodie matches the typical stereotype of teenagers nowadays. This is also seen as an item of clothing that can be linked to a typical criminal because it is difficult to reveal someones identity when they are covering their head with a hoodied jacket. This creates more mystery and enigma throughout the production.
